The Drill Hall Chepstow is a community and arts venue which, since it was leased by Chepstow Town Council in 2008, and handed to a volunteer management committee, has rapidly become a major focus in Chepstow's artistic and community life.

With a programme that includes cinema, professional live theatre, concerts, local amateur dramatic performances, poetry readings by nationally known poets, book talks by famous authors, day schools on subjects of historical and environmental interest, art and craft and craft exhibitions, produce shows, dances and the regular monthly meetings of The Chepstow Society and Chepstow U3A.

With so many exciting and varied events the hundreds of regular visitors find our e-mail programmes and reminders to be vital in planning their diaries. Booking the Drill Hall for your Event

The management committee wish to make the Hall easily available for the whole community but will not accept any bookings that have the potential to cause damage to the reputation or the fabric of the Hall.


The Hall can be hired for a wide range of events including:

  • Club and society meetings
  • Community and social events
  • Some private parties
  • Theatre, concert and cinema performances
  • Lectures, conferences, sales, exhibitions and day schools
  • Some commercial uses
  • The Hall can seat 225 for lectures, theatre, concerts, cinema or conferences.
  • 225 dancing. 178 seated at tables and dancing
  • There is a well-equipped kitchen with plenty of plates crockery and cutlery and glasses and an industrial dishwasher with a three-minute cycle time.
  • The Hall is licensed for most forms of entertainment and the sale of alcohol. This makes it an ideal venue for charity events as it presents an opportunity for the organisation to profit from the sale of drinks.
  • There is a large stage with theatre lighting and two dressing rooms each with their own toilet facilities
  • All parts of the Hall are fully accessible for wheelchair users
  • There are conference and lecture facilities including a sound system with radio microphone display screens, projection screens, a data, overhead and slide projectors etc. These are available to hire at an additional cost.
