Chepstow – the ideal base for exploring this historically significant and beautiful area.
The historic walled border town and ancient port of Chepstow is just 2 hours from London and just over half an hour from Cardif and Bristol, commanding the entrance to the Lower Wye Valley in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Once in Monmouthshire, Chepstow is the perfect base from which to explore the stunning scenery, with many trails and public footpaths starting and finishing here, including the recently opened Coastal Path. In fact, every October, the Monmouthshire Walking Festival, which is supported by local resident Kate Humble, boasts over 30 walks within the Wye Valley and the Brecon Beacons National Park. There is also the challenge of 'The Three Castles' - 19 miles in one day!
